LIF PARTICIPATED IN THE 44th NATIONAL MEETING of PHARMACEUTHICAL SCIENCES IN MEXICO

From October 23rd to October 26th, the LIF SE’s Director Guillermo Cleti, attended Annual Meeting organized by the Asociación Farmacéutica Mexicana, A.C. (AFMAC).
This meeting attracts over 700 assistant every year. This year, it took place at the Hotel Dorado Pacífico Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, México.

The Director of the LIF participated in the forum called “Policies for medicines”. He talked about “medicine as social benefit” and “Medicine Management in the Public Production in Santa Fe”.
After this informative talk, he participated in a workshop with all the audience.

LIF PARTICIPATED IN A SEMINAR IN MISIONES

On October 13 and 14, the LIF SE’s Directors Carlos Arques, Daniel Salomón, the General Syndic Carlos Minatti and the General Manager Roberto Ganin, attended a seminar organized by the National Health Ministry through the Programa Nacional de Producción Pública de Medicamentos Vacunas y Productos Médicos.
This meeting took place in Posadas, Misiones.

The members of the LIF talked about Medicine Management in the Public Production and then they gave information about LIF's growth in medicine production in the last four years.
After this informative talk, they participated in a workshop with all the audience.

LIF PARTICIPATED IN A SEMINAR IN LA PLATA

On Wednesday August 24, the LIF SE’s Directors Carlos Arques, Diego Bruno, Daniel Salomón, Guillermo Cleti and the General Manager Roberto Ganin, attended a seminar organized by the Instituto Biológico Tomás Perón de La Plata.
This meeting was called “Rol del Instituto Biológico en la Producción Pública de Medicamentos” and it took place in the Escuela Superior de la Sanidad de La Plata.

The members of the LIF talked about Medicine Management in the Public Production and then they gave information about LIF's growth in medicine production in the last four years.
After this informative talk, they participated in a workshop with all audience.

Other important people who attended this seminar were Jorge Zarzur, Daniel Gollán, Eduardo Macaluse, Liliana Felner and Alejandro Costa.

LIF and the orphan drugs

Recently, LIF made the second production of Ephedrine* 3 mg tablets.

This production was made for one child from Formosa who has a rare disease called Myasthenia gravis* (MG).

In 2008, this child couldn’t get the medicine because Ephedrine is no longer used as from that year for medicine production. (See Forza gate, 2008, Argentina).

After two years of paper work, LIF could make Ephedrine tablets with an ANMAT’s approbation so in 2010, LIF made the first production and offered a solution to this problem.

Orphan drugs are drugs that can’t be found in the market because the pharmaceutical industry doesn’t produce them since they are not economically beneficial.

LIF GOT A RESEARCH GRANT

LIF got a research grant from the National Ministry of Health.
This grant is part of the Research Program “Ramón Carrillo – Arturo Oñativia” and it is to research on different health topics.
On Friday, June 17, the LIF SE’s Director Carlos Arques and Engineer José Berardo attended the Medicine National Academy to receive the grant (photo).
These grants are an incentive for Argentinean professionals to research in health.
LIF will research on Public Medicine Production in a market of mixed economy.

INAUGURATION NEW WORKS AT LIF

On April 20th, the LIF community inaugurated new works.
The principal works were the expansion and remodeling of Common Tablets’ Section, the new roof and the improvement of the building’s front.
With these works at Common Tablets’ Section, LIF might reach the full habilitation for ANMAT and increase a 100 percent his production.
Around $1.500.000 were invested on the improvements in the building as well as on the purchase of new machinery and equipment.
They were present at inauguration the Governor Hermes Binner, the Health’s Minister Dr. Miguel Cappiello, the Government’s Minister Dr. Antonio Bonfatti and all Directory LIF’s Members.

THE LIF WAS PRESENT IN ECUADOR

On February 24 and 25, the LIF SE’s Director Guillermo Cleti, participated in “The International Seminary-Workshop Sovereignty in Health and New Regional Financial Architecture II (Soberanía en Salud y Nueva Arquitectura Financiera Regional II)”

This Seminary was organized by “Technical Commission for the New Financial Architecture - Banco del Sud” which took place in Quito Hotel, Quito city.

The Pharmacist Guillermo Cleti talked about “Public Production Medicine Policy”.
He started his dissertation talking about medicine public production and then he gave information about LIF's growth in medicine production in the last three years.
Finally, he participated in different technical workshops and he kept meeting with ENFARMA* Managers where they were discussing the possibility of signing a very important agreement of “Collaboration and mutual assistance” between LIF and ENFARMA.
